Första recensionerna av The Pale King
I mars nästa år ger vi ut David Foster Wallaces postuma roman The Pale King, preliminär svenskt titel "Blek kung", om ett antal människor på ett skattekontor i den amerikanska mellanvästern. Det må låta tråkigt och författarens ambition med boken har delvis varit att beskriva tristess och monotoni --- men boken är fruktansvärt rolig.
Boken släpps den 15 april i USA men redan nu har de första recensionerna börjat trilla in och det är hyllningar på alla håll, Michiko Kakutani skriver i New York Times:
"By turns breathtakingly brilliant and stupefying dull — funny, maddening and elegiac — “The Pale King” will be minutely examined by longtime fans for the reflexive light it sheds on Wallace’s oeuvre and his life. But it may also snag the attention of newcomers, giving them a window — albeit a flawed window — into this immensely gifted writer’s vision of the human condition as lived out in the middle of the middle of America, toward the end of the 20th century."
